My at Home Hair Care Routine

DISCLAIMER: This post was in partnership with Hair Cuttery. I was compensated as well as gifted products from It’s a 10 haircare & Cibu. All opinions and wording are my own.
You can find Cibu & It’s a 10 hair products at your local Hair Cuttery Salon.

Who doesn’t love that after salon feeling? Your hair is fresh and healthy, styled perfectly, and you wish somehow you could do your hair like this at home.

I’ve always had really fine, straight hair, and now its over-processed from lots of years of curling and coloring it. I used to have to wash it every day to avoid a greasy feel, but after I had Brooklyn, I was lucky if I got to get in the shower at all, let alone have any time for my hair.

One thing I’ve learned over the past several months is that when I do get the chance to wash my hair, I take the time to put in the right products that will help it last for several days. Only washing it a couple of times a week has helped my hair as far as a lot less oiliness, less damage from the lack of heating and styling, and saved me a lot of time!

I thought I would share what I’ve been doing lately from home, in between salon visits, to help maintain my hair and keep it healthy, and saving time.

TONING SHAMPOOΒ (especially if you have color treated or bleached hair!) Once a week I wash my hair with a purple shampoo. I use this one because my hair easily turns brassy and yellowy, and it helps keep it toned to a lighter, ashier blonde. If you’re not a blonde, look for toners for brunettes or redheads that can help restore your color and make it look more refreshed when you can’t get to the salon.

CONDITIONER Next I have to condition my hair every time because otherwise my hair will just feel brittle and dried out. We also have hard-water which can be rough on your hair! I have been using the It’s a 10 Miracle Hair Mask almost every time because it does WONDERS on my hair, and helps me go several days without washing it. I’ve actually been using this conditioner on Blaire every time now because even though her hair is actually really healthy, its also SO fine, naturally curly and gets tangled really easily. I’ve always struggled to find a product that works for her and this one is one of the only ones I’ve ever found that works well.

LEAVE IN PRODUCT After I get out of the shower I feel like is the just as an important part of my haircare routine. If I don’t put any products in it can easily dry out or be hard to style. Lately I’ve been using this Cibu Argon Oil Treatment on my wet hair. You can actually use it on either wet or dry, but I find for my hair type and texture it works best on wet hair. I rub just a couple of drops in between my hands and then run through my hair with my fingers. Sometimes I mist my hair lightly with thisΒ before blow drying and styling.

DRY HAIR I always dry my hair with a blowdryer if I can. I try to dry it as quickly and alway do my flyaway/baby hair areas first. I find that if I dry them in the direction I want them to be (usually just down!) they typically will stay that way and not go all over the place.Β Once my hair is dry, I like to use a texturizing powder for volume. This is the one I use. Then, I almost always curl my hair with my T3 cascading wand. Its usually super wavy the first day and then softens out over the next few days. All I have to do after the first day hair is use dry shampoo to maintain! This dry shampoo is my current favorite.
